There are two ways that people can potentially find themselves in hazardous situations in the workplace. One is workplace injury, often caused by the likes of slips, trips and falls, muscle strains, and even being hit by falling objects. The other is the potential for health problems brought about by a lack of what is called occupational hygiene. The prevalence of health issues in the workplace can be reduced significantly with an occupational hygiene assessment. One of AMCOSH’s qualified occupational hygiene consultants can visit your workplace and help you manage and minimise likely workplace hazards caused by chemicals, dust, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme temperatures, among other factors. When one of our occupational hygiene consultants visits your Melbourne worksite, they’ll take you through what we call a qualitative assessment. This part of the assessment is essentially a talk through the various kinds of hazards present on site (e.g. chemical, physical or biological), whether or not those hazards can lead to acute or chronic health problems, determining whether or not employee exposure to the hazards is constant or intermittent, and how many staff are potentially impacted by exposure. The findings from the qualitative discussion will determine whether a more detailed occupational hygiene assessment is required.
Protect your employees and your business by organising a comprehensive onsite occupation hygiene assessment with AMCOSH today.
